In July several students from St David's volunteer to join other young people from around the United Kingdom to work on classroom building projects in Africa or Asia for five weeks.
They live in modest rural villages and work with locals in classroom construction.
There is also the opportunity to teach basic English to some local young children. This work is part of the Lasallian Developing World Projects. In recent years students have worked in Kenya, Ghana, Uganda and Rwanda.
St David's has helped to fund and build a health clinic in Tanzania in partnership with the Rosminian fathers in Cardiff.
This offers life saving treatments to people of rural villages.
We continue in this outreach programme and are currently raising funds to acquire a four-wheel drive ambulance for the clinic. In time we hope to be able to send students to visit and see first hand the contribution they are making to improving life for our African brothers and sisters.
The College supports major fundraising events throughout the year and has a close partnership with CAFOD, the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development.
