As well as the specified topics, A2 students will also take one Guided Studies option from:

Regions of the country studied

The World of Cinema

The World of Literature

 

During the course you may have the opportunity to visit a country where your chosen language is spoken as part of an exchange or study trip as well as an email exchange with people of your own age. You will also have the opportunity to speak your chosen language regularly with a native speaker, and learn about their country, culture and history.

 

How is the course assessed?

AS (Year One)

You will be assessed on oral, listening, reading and writing skills.

 

Unit 1 Oral: 12 - 15 minute oral exam
General conversation

Unit 2 Listening, Reading and Writing: 2.5 hour exam

Translating Target language into English

Essay

A2 (Year Two)

You will be assessed on oral, listening, reading and writing skills.

What Next?

The ability to speak another language is a definite asset. Modern foreign languages are commonly used in the world of commerce, international business, diplomacy, the world of art, financial services, the media, tourism and technology.

 

A modern foreign language is relevant and useful for a number of degree courses such as: Law, Medical Courses, Business Studies, Marketing/Export Management, Journalism/Media Studies, Education and Tourism.
