12.05.09 Media Students Learn How To Classify Films

A2 media students visited the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) in London with their teachers last month.  The students were attending an organised two-hour seminar which linked directly into their final exam on film censorship issues.

The BBFC examiner was excellent and captivated the students with much detail and analysis of the history of the BBFC, its role, how filmmakers have to adhere to the laws of the land and if they think a director has broken any laws they have to investigate (Children's Act and Animal's Act were two areas discussed) plus lots of extracts of films were shown.

All the students said that the day out had been excellent and wished it could have been longer.
