This year's tutor groups threw themselves into the competitive spirit by undertaking a selection of activities: from sponsored leg waxing in the college coffee shop to completing a couple of circuits around Roath Park lake wearing what can only be described as some weird and wonderful outfits.
A special mention must go to student Ellie Adams who single-handedly raised £135 for breast cancer. The individual group who raised the most money organised a raffle and raised an amazing £500 for Red Dragon's "Help a South Wales Child" campaign. Rachel Dodge, the teacher who led the group, said: "The prizes that the students secured for the raffle were quite staggering. There were at least thirty different prizes including five free driving lessons, a paintball session and one month's membership of Fitness First . I'm really proud that the students have managed to persuade local companies to donate so many interesting and fun prizes."
Welsh Bacc Coordinator Caroline Morgan, who has recently taken up a new position as All Wales Coordinator based at the WJEC on Western Avenue, said: "A big thank you must go to all concerned and please be assured your fundraising efforts will be much appreciated by the various Welsh charities."
Other charities to received funds from St David's students include:
The Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT);
The Handicapped Children Pilgrimage Trust ( HCPT);
