21.01.10 St David’s features in BBC Current Affairs programme

On Thursday 14 January BBC reporter Peter Johnson visited St David's to hear from students and staff about the experience of studying at a designated sixth-form college for the Radio Wales programme Eye On Wales.

Peter Johnson, who is one of the best known voices in Welsh broadcasting also interviewed Lisa Newman, St David's Assistant Principal. Mrs Newman, who has responsibility for the college’s strategic curriculum development and quality, spoke about the success of St David's Catholic College as Wales’ only stand-alone sixth-form college.

That interview will be broadcast on Monday evening 25th January at 6.30pm as part of a wider examination of the plans some Welsh councils have to create tertiary colleges to increase choice and participation for pupils post-16 - a path that would involve the closure of existing school sixth forms.

The programme will be repeated at 9.30pm on Friday 29th January and will be available to listen again via BBC i Player until February 5th.

Eye on Wales is one of BBC Radio Wales’ longest running current affairs programmes, featuring investigations into all aspects of Welsh life.
