25.08.10 Another Successful Year for St David’s Students!

With an A' level pass rate of 97% St David's students performed exceptionally well again in 2010. The 'A' grade rate was 37% (including the Welsh Baccalaureate) and reflects all the hard work put in by staff and students.  Click the headline to learn more.

The important statistics are:

  • 479 students sat 32 A' level courses.
  • 45 students gained the new A* qualification at A level.
  • 9% of the Honours Programme for gifted & talented students achieved an A* grade
  • 48% of the Honours Programme for gifted & talented students achieved A* - A grade
  • 78% of the Honours Programme for gifted & talented students achieved A* - B grade
  • Sulman Iqbal achieved an astonishing 5 A*'s at A' level and  is going to Brasenose College Oxford to study Law.
  • Tomasz Iwaniak only resident in the UK for 2 years from Poland achieved 2 A*'s & 2 A's and is going to Magdalen College Oxford to study Maths and Computer Science.
  • 18 students gained 3 A's with 7 gaining 4 A's at A' level.

 

  • St David's is the largest centre in Wales with 348 students achieving the Advanced Level Welsh Baccalaureate.
  • 46 students sat the new WJEC Extended Project, 80% achieved A-C, 57% achieved A or B. 37% achieved an A grade.
  • 100% of Spanish & German students gained A-C grades.
  • 95% of A2 Media Studies students gained A-C grades.
  • 91% of Further Maths students gained A-C grades.
  • 61% of A2 Law students gained A-B grades, with 20% gaining an A*.

 

  • In vocational courses, BTEC level 3 in Sports Development & Fitness all students passed the course with 53%  gaining a triple distinction, equal to AAA at A' level.
  • 83% of Cache Diploma students achieved an A-C grade, with 43% achieving triple A grades.
  • 100% of BTEC level 3 Business students passed the course with 53%  gaining a double distinction, equal to AA at A' level.
  • At level 2 some exceptionally high distinction grades were achieved: 43% in Business; 53% in Health & Social Care; 68% in Media; 100% in Sport; 50% in ICT.
  • At level 1 all students passed all components of their course.
